A scuba diving experience for Handisub thanks to the Eqwal Foundation

An association dedicated to inclusive scuba diving

Founded in 2014 in Guingamp (Brittany, France), the Handisub association has set out to enable people with disabilities to discover the joys of scuba diving. For nearly 10 years, its members have honed their skills, primarily in swimming pools. The site of Hurghada, Egypt, became the ideal choice for this activity thanks to its adapted facilities: accessible airports, accommodations and dining options, specially equipped boats, and dive sites designed for all types of disabilities. In 2022, 26 people experienced this unique adventure. The second expedition took place in November 2024, made possible through the support of Eqwal Foundation and other partners.

An unforgettable underwater adventure in Hurghada

From November 2 to 9, in Hurghada, Egypt, Handisub, with the support of Eqwal Foundation, gave people with disabilities the chance to experience something extraordinary: diving to explore the ocean depths. After several training sessions in swimming pools in Brittany, participants explored the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea. Underwater, the limitations of disabilities fade away, offering a sense of freedom and an unforgettable immersion in the marine world.

Inclusion and self-discovery at the heart of the initiative

Accompanied by professional instructors and caregivers, participants experienced this adventure safely. This exceptional project demonstrates the power of inclusion and highlights the importance of making activities such as scuba diving accessible to everyone. It enabled all participants to discover and appreciate the marine environment, capture underwater moments, and share a deeply human adventure filled with inclusion and self-discovery.
