Lagarrigue donates 180 wheelchairs.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, the city of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, hosted the 33rd International Day of Disabled Persons (IDDP). This celebration took on a special significance thanks to the involvement of PROMHANDICAM, a local organization dedicated to supporting people with disabilities.

A solidarity gesture for children with cerebral palsy

As part of this day, PROMHANDICAM organized a donation ceremony under the theme: "Rolling Together Towards Inclusion." One of the highlights of this ceremony was the distribution of over 50 wheelchairs tailored to the specific needs of children with cerebral palsy (CP).

These wheelchairs, collected from our French agency Lagarrigue Loos by the Association Rêve des Parents d'Enfants Handicapés (ARPEH), came from a process of recovering equipment that was no longer used in France. This donation not only meets essential needs in Cameroon but also supports a sustainable and solidarity-driven initiative by giving a second life to this specialized equipment.

In the coming weeks, nearly 130 additional wheelchairs will be sent to Cameroon for distribution to the association.

A collective effort for inclusion

This event could not have taken place without the commitment of the Association Rêve des Parents d'Enfants Handicapés (ARPEH) and the Association for the Support of Children with Cerebral Palsy, which advocates for better care for children with CP.

It is thanks to the efforts of these organizations that concrete actions, such as the donation of wheelchairs, can come to fruition. We are proud to be part of this donation and contribute to the well-being of these children in Cameroon.

A step towards an inclusive future

By partnering with organizations like Lagarrigue and mobilizing local associations, PROMHANDICAM reminds us that the fight for the inclusion of people with disabilities can only succeed by combining local and international efforts.
